This spring, Kingfield Elementary School marks five years of participating in an eight week - One Book…One Place school community project. This year our focus is Wabanaki Studies. The books we will be using are The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare and The First Blade of Sweetgrass by Suzanne Greenlaw and Gabriel Frey. This community project allows us to build on the themes of Friendship, Family, Nature, Life, Environment, Acceptance, Freedom and Community from a Wabanaki perspective and expand our learning as a whole school. It is our intent to have a weekly interdisciplinary connection to each of the themes; which will include guest speakers and presenters.
